Let us get this party started, shall we?

When you look at history, you kinda somehow have to wonder why a collection of 13 colonies, with absolutely no history, or previous infrastructure managed to go from wilderness to, despite two wars with its motherland, and horrendous civil war, in less than 300 years, surpassed all other well established nations to become the greatest on the planet, while similar colonies with similar circumstances of Spain and Portugal floundered and became backwaters.

And you have to wonder why that nation seems to have now stagnated.  Sure, the stock market is at record highs, but the Workforce participation rate, the % of people making contributions to society in the form of a job, is at the lowest rate since woman began to join the work force.

I think the answer may have to do with the sandwich, and the cart.

Here is an excerpt from a debate, which contains two stories, about the sandwich, and the cart.

feel free to skip to 1:15 or so.

Some relevant quotes from some famous people:

"Government is the great fiction through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else."
--Frederic Bastiat

"I am for doing good to the poor, But I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, But leading or driving them out of it."
Benjamin Franklin.

(Now it is interesting to note that the guy on the left has recently plead guilty to breaking campaign finance laws, but to detract from his statements for that would be a fallacy, and that whole issue of "should people be limited in how much they can give to campaigns" could be a whole different thread.)

Full debate (2 hours, you might not want to bother):

Interesting haha. Obama on a horse with a gun, love the analogy lol!

I'm on Medicaid now myself, but I work and pay taxes and am in college so I hope you don't consider me to be a leech!

I mostly agree though. I know people who just realize they don't have to work. For instance, one mutual friend told me his mother gets free medication. She then sells the medication for money and marijuana. I obviously see this as despicable as it takes our tax money. Yet, nothing is really being done to fix it. I suppose spying on everyone to make sure this doesn't happen is not an idea most people like... but honestly I sort of see monitoring as this... if you aren't doing anything wrong, then why are you so worried?

Anyways, I mentioned before on SGE about my education reformation idea. I will post that soon.

Every government is maths.. if you work it out you will see every political structure has a setting even on economy which directly correlates with the government as if they didnt tax they had to get their money to fund otherwise civil wars will take its place but apparently national morale is very important for a productive country even if the "brainwashing theory" very common on near every government in the world i have seen it. - lol

Well, true Aussie, but it shouldn't be that bad! That's what we need to fix here.
Vulcan society, as I said, I vote for it! Wink
